This piece is the structural anchor of the Beyond the Pigment collection. It began in a state of absolute stillness, with a water-thinned wash of hand-mixed pigments applied directly to the canvas. This translucent foundation represents the quiet space where healing begins—a calm, atmospheric depth that sets the stage for the complexity to come.
The tranquility is then challenged by the sharp authority of the palette knife. By layering heavy, structural pigment in bold strikes of crimson and cobalt, I created a physical record of emotional friction. These ridges and scrapes represent the "grit" of the process—the anger, the passion, and the raw risks required to move from a place of pressure to a place of power.
Ultimately, the work is a study in internal architecture. It captures the wild, free, and often contradictory nature of a life lived with high-level ambition. By merging soft, fluid brushes with the aggressive weight of the blade, it proves that love and chaos can exist on the same plane, creating a surface that demands to be felt as much as it is seen
