Layers Of Us

This special commission was created as an anniversary gift—pure black and white on the surface, but layered with so much more. Six to seven coats of white paint brushed in opposing directions create quiet texture beneath, sanded smooth on the edges so the black drips could land clean and intentional.

A subtle brown tint lives inside the black, softening the contrast and warming the whole piece so it feels inviting instead of stark. One partner loves curves, pop, and symmetry. The other loves clean lines, geometry, and minimalism. This canvas holds both—meeting in the middle without compromise.

It was a personal challenge for me: stop, simplify, declutter the mind, and create only for them. The result is refined, intentional, and full of quiet love. A piece that now lives in their home, bringing warmth, curiosity, and a little something special that only they fully understand.
